A DMU has arrived with a failure. Shunt the failed car to repairs and send it back on its way.

Task Log and Objectives Edit

  • Welcome to Thornaby Depot. Over at the far end of the depot, a Class 101 has just been delivered with a faulty middle car. Start up this Class 08 and drive over there to split the DMU.
  • CLIMB ABOARD. Climb aboard and sit in the Driver's Seat
  • DIESEL ENGINE. Hold the Master Key Switch in START until the engine is running
  • CHARGE BRAKE SYSTEM. Wait for the Main Reservoir to charge...
  • HANDBRAKE. Fully release the Handbrake
  • BRAKE TEST. Set the Locomotive Brake to FULL SERVICE
  • BRAKE TEST. Set the Train Brake to RUNNING
  • REVERSER. Set the Reverser to REVERSE
  • LOCOMOTIVE BRAKE. Set the Locomotive Brake to RELEASE
  • APPLY POWER. Apply some Throttle to get moving
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Signal TY176
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Wagon Repair Depot
  • Now couple up to the DMU. Pull up so the locomotive touches the DMU, then climb down and hook the couplings together manually.
  • COUPLE TO FORMATION. DMU
  • First we need to move the MBS and get it out of the way so we can get to the middle coach.
  • UNCOUPLE VEHICLES. Lead Car
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Depot East Entry
  • The Thornaby Depot area includes manual junctions, ensure these are set correctly before proceeding in and out of the sidings.
  • SET JUNCTION. Change the Junction to the correct siding
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Siding East
  • UNCOUPLE VEHICLES. Lead Car
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Wagon Repair Depot
  • COUPLE TO FORMATION. DMU
  • UNCOUPLE VEHICLES. Middle Car
  • With the faulty car secured, take it over to the Holding Siding for now. The crew at Thornaby will take a look at this later today.
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Depot East Entry
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Carriage & Wagon Holding Siding
  • UNCOUPLE VEHICLES. Middle Car
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Depot Entry East
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Siding East
  • We can now put this DMU back into service as a 2 car unit. Let's get the Driving Motor coupled up.
  • COUPLE TO FORMATION. Lead Car
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Wagon Repair Depot
  • COUPLE TO FORMATION. Rear Car
  • UNCOUPLE VEHICLES. DMU
  • That's the job done, another driver will come and test the unit later. For now, stable the Class 08 in the siding nearby and shut it down.
  • STOP AT LOCATION. Tees Yard Siding East
  • That DMU will be tested by another driver before being put into service and the crew at Thornaby will start work on the faulty car. Shutdown the 08 and head over to the lineside hut for lunch.
  • BRAKES. Set the Train Brake to FULL SERVICE
  • SHUT DOWN LOCOMOTIVE. Set the Reverser to OFF
  • MASTER KEY SWITCH. Set the Master Key Switch to OFF
  • DISEMBARK. Climb down to complete this duty.
